Clussy
Clussy is what happens when the internet's suffix factory gets hold of a horror villain. It is clown plus the -ussy ending that was being bolted onto every noun on Twitter and Tumblr in the late 2010s, and it attached itself specifically to Pennywise from the 2017 film It. It has a documented first sighting in August 2017, a Tumblr moment in September 2017 that its own author deleted, a revival in 2019 when the sequel arrived, and a genuine peak between December 2021 and March 2022. Nine years later somebody made a coin out of it, then wrote a website claiming the coin was inspired by a video posted four days after the mint already existed. The chain does not agree with the website.
Origin
The word belongs to the -ussy suffix family, the running joke that any word can be turned into an orifice by amputating its ending. Clussy is clown treated that way. The earliest known use on record is 22 August 2017, when Twitter user Georgeous_Fox applied it to Lola Pop, the clown fighter from the Nintendo game ARMS. That version went nowhere. The version that stuck came a few weeks later. In September 2017 the Tumblr user slushi received an anonymous ask about Pennywise, the clown from the It adaptation released that same month, and answered it at length, using clussy in passing near the end. The original post collected six notes and was deleted. It survived because on 18 September 2017 a Twitter user posted a screenshot of it, and that screenshot went on to gather over 830 likes across the following five years. This is the standard shape of a Tumblr meme: the author quits, the screenshot outlives them.
Spread
The term sat mostly dormant for two years and came back when the film franchise did. On 25 May 2019 a TikTok user posted Pennywise content using it, and on 7 August 2019 an Instagram account did the same to around 2,600 likes, both riding the release cycle of It Chapter Two. The real peak arrived at the end of 2021. A 4chan thread on 22 December 2021 pushed it back into circulation. On 10 January 2022 a nostalgic post about the word by the Twitter user keffals passed 7,300 likes. On 17 March 2022 a Reddit confession built around it collected roughly 4,300 upvotes in a week. TikTok videos from January and February 2022 pulled 439,800 and 205,300 plays. For a few months in early 2022 the word was doing numbers that had nothing to do with the film and everything to do with the joke of the word existing at all. After that it settled into the background layer of internet slang, resurfacing whenever a clown turns up in the news cycle, which on the internet is constantly.
Legacy
The coin history is short, mostly dead, and contains a dating problem worth pointing at. The first clussy mint on Solana is 7X96nWSG8TvvBJNEfMe8EajkztbFsiZ6QTzXv8gbpump, created on 2 February 2025 with a three word description that is not printable here. It has no liquidity. A second, 6KVzHMF7mYBDPx5eELYGWwW15Aj6NRsRMBUtTwKfpump, arrived on 16 November 2025 with the description Honk Honk. Also dead. The one that worked is nWnDYs4dR57Cek8nsK1W8iWEqKiKZE1hW1CLvP3pump, created at 00:19:53 UTC on 12 August 2026. Its PumpSwap market opened at 03:24:14 UTC on 14 August 2026, it peaked at about 0.001024 dollars on 24 August 2026, which is roughly 1.02 million dollars of market capitalisation, and it was trading around 505,000 dollars two days later. Two more attempts followed and failed: 51Y9AvCjUpLxdZfPNVvM9aFn1rY9LmdFEYi9uLS3pump on 16 August 2026 and AmoGycrQbQQMQ5i5LY6uJAVuzERoVoVKNGCT7JfSa8Vm on 25 August 2026. Now the receipt. The token's own website tells a founding story: a fifteen second video called clown.mp4 appeared from an unknown source on 16 August 2026, and the token emerged organically afterwards. The mint was created on 12 August and the pool opened on 14 August. The coin predates its own origin story by four days. The same site also dates the word to 1990s slang, which no documented source supports, since the record starts in August 2017. None of this makes the token a scam, and it is refreshingly blunt about being worthless. It just means the lore was written after the fact, which is the most common form of dishonesty in this market and the easiest one to check.

- The earliest recorded use is 22 August 2017, by Twitter user Georgeous_Fox, referring to Lola Pop from the Nintendo game ARMS.
- The version that spread came from a September 2017 Tumblr answer by the user slushi about Pennywise from the 2017 film It. The original post received six notes and was deleted.
- It survived through a screenshot posted to Twitter on 18 September 2017, which accumulated more than 830 likes over the following five years.
- A second wave came with It Chapter Two in 2019, including a TikTok post on 25 May 2019 and an Instagram post on 7 August 2019 with around 2,600 likes.
- The peak ran from December 2021 to March 2022: a 4chan thread on 22 December 2021, a keffals tweet on 10 January 2022 with over 7,300 likes, a Reddit post on 17 March 2022 with roughly 4,300 upvotes, and TikTok videos with 439,800 and 205,300 plays.
