Leeroy Jenkins
Leeroy Jenkins 2005 World of Warcraft clip in which a player ignores his group's careful battle plan, screams his own name as a war cry, and charges in, wiping the entire party. His name became shorthand for reckless, plan-be-damned action.
Origin
The video, staged or not, came from the guild PALS FOR LIFE and captured a meticulous strategy meeting instantly undone when Leeroy returns from grabbing food and rushes the dungeon yelling "Leeeeeroy Jenkins!"
Spread
It spread far beyond gaming circles, quoted in classrooms, offices, and eventually as an official card and voice line inside Warcraft itself. The phrase entered general slang for anyone who acts first and thinks later.
Legacy
Two decades on it is one of gaming's most enduring memes, referenced in the US military, board games, and Blizzard's own products. "Pulling a Leeroy" is universally understood without needing the source.
