Milady Maker is a set of 10,000 generative profile picture NFTs launched on Ethereum in August 2021 by the Remilia collective, led by the pseudonymous figure Charlotte Fang. The artwork combined a soft anime look with Y2K nostalgia and Tokyo street fashion references into a style its creators called neochibi. Unlike the frantic sellouts of the era, the collection took months to fully mint, building a dedicated niche audience rather than an instant frenzy.
Spread
The Milady avatars developed a devoted following that treated the aesthetic as a whole subculture, complete with in jokes, manifestos, and a deliberately provocative anti mainstream posture. The imagery spread far beyond its original holders as a recognizable profile picture style, and the community drew wider attention across crypto social media.
