Rave Cat
Rave Cat Cat is a kitten that appears to be dancing on a wet beach, posted on 6 August 2026 by the X account @belindomita with a caption in Spanish that translates to "My alarm ringing for 10 minutes. Me in my dreams:". The joke is a piece of sleep science everyone has lived through: when an alarm goes off during REM sleep, the brain would rather write the noise into the dream than admit it is morning. The cat is what that looks like from the inside. The post cleared 470,000 likes in three days, TikTok turned it into a format within hours, and by the next afternoon there were contracts on three chains named after a cat nobody has been able to identify.
Origin
The post went up on 6 August 2026 at 00:10 UTC from @belindomita, an account that displays as soliraw with a Brazilian flag and posts in Spanish. The text is two lines: "*Mi alarma sonando durante 10 minutos* Yo en mis sueños:", followed by a video. In it, a small white and grey kitten is standing on its hind legs in shallow water on a dark beach, front paws out, rocking side to side with the total commitment of an animal that has no idea it is being filmed. There is no music in the clip. The music is the alarm you are supposed to be imagining, which is the entire joke and the reason the format works without audio. The provenance of the footage itself is not settled, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. @belindomita is a reposting account rather than a pet account, the clip carries no watermark, and no earlier upload has surfaced on any platform we can check. What is verifiable is the post that made it a meme: the timestamp, the caption, the engagement, and the fact that every derivative traces back to that upload rather than to an original owner who has come forward. The token project's own website says the same thing in fewer words, listing the original source as unconfirmed while crediting the @belindomita post.
Spread
It followed the standard 2026 route: X first, TikTok within a day, contracts within two. The caption format is infinitely reusable because the setup is universal, so the replies filled with variants swapping the alarm for meetings, deadlines, group chats and red candles while keeping the same kitten. On TikTok the clip was recut into compilations under Spanish-language titles along the lines of "me en mis sueños: el gato que baila", which is how it crossed from the Spanish-speaking timeline into the general algorithm. By 9 August 2026 the original post carried roughly 472,000 likes and about 1,400 replies. The name it ended up with is a small accident of translation. Nobody in the original post said rave. The cat is dancing to an alarm clock, not to a soundsystem, but "Rave Cat" is what the first people to build things on top of it wrote down, and tickers are stickier than accuracy. It is also worth keeping this one separate from the older spinning cat, OIIA OIIA, which is a different cat, a different clip and a different joke that happens to occupy the same shelf marked cat that moves in a way cats do not move.
Legacy
The tokenisation was fast and, unusually, not led by Solana. Four near-identical contracts called Dancing Cat Alarm, ticker DCA, opened pools on BNB Chain on 7 August 2026 starting at 09:53 UTC, launched through flap.sh with addresses ending in 7777, no image, no socials and around 8,000 dollars of liquidity each. That is the signature of a launcher bot farming a trend rather than a project, but it is on the clock first and we are not going to erase it to make a cleaner story. The market that actually formed came about four hours later. RAVECAT was minted on pump.fun on 7 August 2026 at 13:42:28 UTC, and its listing points directly at the @belindomita post as the source, which is a rarer courtesy than it should be. It runs ravecat.site, which publishes a downloadable meme kit and states plainly that the cat stays real while the scenarios around it get remixed. Two days after the mint it was doing more than five million dollars of daily volume across roughly 25,000 trades, up around 320 percent in a day, on about 138,000 dollars of liquidity. Then came the swarm. A second Solana contract opened a single Orca pool on 9 August 2026 at 00:49 UTC and printed a nominal market cap of about 6.9 billion dollars off five trades, which is not a valuation, it is an empty pool with a price in it. BNB Chain and Robinhood Chain filled up the same week with RAVECAT and FARGO contracts on vanity addresses ending in 7777, each holding around 7,400 dollars of liquidity and doing no volume at all. As of 9 August 2026 the cat has more contracts than it has confirmed owners.
