Evil Dog (Busi the Chihuahua)
Evil Dog (Busi the Chihuahua) Dog is a cream coloured chihuahua from Ukraine who bares her teeth on command and, for about half a second, looks like she has just finished planning something unforgivable. The clip was posted to TikTok at the very end of December 2022 by the account @wowlaserkiev, captioned in Ukrainian as a smile from Busi, and the face has served as the internet's default confession of devious behaviour ever since. The format needs no editing skill at all: one line of text describing the terrible thing you did, then Busi supplies the expression. It burned slowly through 2023, went quiet, then came back hard in the second half of 2025 when meme pages turned the frame into a daily posting engine. By 2026 the largest of those pages, @evildogi, had roughly 350,000 TikTok followers and a merch store selling plush pillows. In July 2026 the character reached the blockchain the way these things always do, which is to say all at once, on four networks, with nobody having asked Busi's owner.
Origin
The earliest known posting is a TikTok video from the Ukrainian account @wowlaserkiev at the end of December 2022. Know Your Meme's two entries covering the same clip date it to 30 and 31 December 2022 respectively, one day apart, and MemePedia has not been able to resolve which is correct. The video is short and domestic: a woman's voice, speaking Russian, tells the dog to show her teeth, the chihuahua obliges, and a Cyrillic text overlay reads a smile from Busi, which is how the internet learned the dog's name. It was never staged as a meme. It was a person filming her pet doing a party trick. The original has since collected over 2.5 million views and around 163,000 likes. The clip's problem, in meme terms, was that it arrived wrapped in a language most of the audience could not read, and it took another user to fix that. On 1 February 2023 the TikTok account @justfennec cropped the Ukrainian caption out and republished the shot as a clean square template. Stripped of its text, the dog became portable, and the format settled into its permanent shape: caption on top, Busi underneath, admission of guilt implied.
Spread
The revival is better documented than the launch. From 7 July 2025 the Instagram account @sm.0.o began posting Evil Dog captions at volume, treating the frame as a daily format rather than a one off joke. On 5 September 2025 the TikTok account @greenscreenmemes.com published a green screen CapCut template of the dog, which passed a million views and 17,400 likes and removed the last remaining friction, since anyone could now drop their own text behind the face without opening an editor. On 18 November 2025 the account @evildogi used that template and collected over 176,800 views and 10,900 likes, and it kept going. By 2026 @evildogi had become the meme's centre of gravity, with roughly 350,000 TikTok followers and 28.8 million likes across its catalogue, plus a companion Instagram account whose Reel on 10 May 2026 took 54,000 views and 2,750 likes inside a day. The page also does what viral animal accounts eventually do and sells things: evildogofficial.com offers tees, hoodies and limited plush pillows, with no cryptocurrency of any kind mentioned anywhere on it. The captions themselves stayed remarkably stable across four years. The dog is used for the confession you make cheerfully, the classic being some variation on the thing you told me not to do, which I have now done.
Legacy
Evil Dog is one of the cleanest examples of a format that outran its own subject. Almost nobody reposting the face knows the dog is called Busi, that she is Ukrainian, or that the audio was a woman asking her to show her teeth. The picture became a punctuation mark and the animal behind it disappeared, which is roughly what happened to every reaction dog before her. On chain the story is messier and much more recent. A small Solana contract using the ticker busya and the name evil smile dog was deployed on 19 January 2026 and never went anywhere, sitting on a few thousand dollars of liquidity, but it is the earliest contract MemePedia can tie to this meme. The wave that mattered started six months later. A Solana token named Evildogi launched on 25 July 2026 and took the volume, and within forty eight hours the same name appeared on Base, on Robinhood Chain and on at least three further Solana mints. The Base contract is the strangest of the set, holding close to 300,000 dollars of liquidity against zero recorded trading and no attached socials at all. None of these tokens are connected to the @evildogi meme page, which sells merchandise and has never mentioned crypto, and none are connected to whoever actually owns Busi. MemePedia therefore lists no OG contract for this meme and treats the whole July 2026 cluster as a name grab on a face that has been public property since 2022.
